livewire Lab
Open each day, the lab is teen central for learning new skills in graphic design, movie special fx, Web site development, or just reconnecting with friends at livewire (or the ones at home who are totally jealous!).
- Direct and Star in Your Own Video - Each day's adventures are captured in video and pictures by our livewire staff. In the lab, teens are the director and work with our experts in video and special effects to edit and produce the footage they want. They'll direct what shots stay in and what goes on the cutting-room floor, and learn the software and techniques used to make a professional product. Then they can post it to their own Web site at the end of the week!
- Create or Mod Web Spaces - Each afternoon, livewire courses show teens how to create or improve their piece of the Web. They'll learn how to make a Vlog (video blog) or work on a digital album that captures their killer week. Whatever they want to learn, we have industry experts in HTML, video editing, and even sound effects and music editing at their disposal.
livewire Programs
Partnering with Disney, livewire teens have private sessions with Disney's Youth Education Series instructors. These specially trained staff members guide teens through the concepts that went into various aspects of the theme parks, in addition to front-of-the-line access for a bit of fun when the session is over. (The sessions below are examples of programs available. The final schedule is based on available Disney programs.)
- Properties of Motion - Become a theme park scientist and design your own coaster. Here you can test out different track elements learning to adjust height and curve for just the right effects on your human test subjects – um, we mean guests. You'll get a crash course in physics, G-Forces, speed, velocity, and kinetic energy. See how the whole illusion is created with sounds and hydraulics, audio-animatronics, and of course, motion.
- Production Arts and Science - Enter the fifth dimension as you search for story elements and devices at Disney MGM Studios. Once you've got the info you need, you're set to ride and explore the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror® (before lunch of course!). You'll go back to the beginning of this ride's conception, viewing the original storyboards used and then analyze where the changes occurred from concept through creation. Then you're in charge as you do your own storyboarding and create your own original production based on the ride's required elements.
